Welcome to Littlest Fig Homestead

Discover Our Homesteading Journey

Littlest Fig Homestead began in September 2025, when my husband and I packed up and moved back to Louisiana. We returned to my childhood home—100 acres of pine, pasture, and possibility—where we now live with my mom. The land is familiar, but now I am stepping back onto it as an adult, with new goals and a deeper appreciation which makes it feel like a fresh start.
My mom had already started a garden, and since moving back, we’ve been slowly growing it together. Gardening has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but now it feels more intentional—something steady and grounding that connects us to this place in a deeper way.
We’ve recently added baby chicks to the homestead, and though they’re not laying yet, we are so excited to watch them interact with their surroundings as they get bigger. We’re also making plans to get meat rabbits and ducks this upcoming winter/spring and continue moving toward a life that’s more homegrown.
This isn’t a fast-paced, picture-perfect kind of journey. It’s the kind where boots get muddy, projects take time, and lessons are often learned the hard way. But it’s honest, and it’s ours.
I’m starting this blog to keep track of our progress—what’s worked, what hasn’t, and all the moments in between. More than anything, I hope it encourages you to start where you are, even if it’s just with a few seeds or a small idea. There’s beauty in figuring it out as you go.
Thanks for stopping by the homestead. I hope you’ll stay a while..
